School Of Creative Arts - UWE Bristol School Of Creative Arts - UWE Bristol

Practice and critical reflection is at the heart of the student experience in the Department of Art and Design. Over 800 students are studying on courses in:

    * BA(Hons)Animation
    * BA(Hons) Drawing and Applied Arts
    * BA(Hons) Fashion Design
    * BA(Hons) Fine Art
    * BA(Hons) Graphic Design
    * BA(Hons) Illustration
    * BA(Hons) Design: Process, Material, Context
    * BA(Hons) Photography
    * BA(Hons) Fashion / Textiles Design

Most of them are based in specially designed studios and workshops at Bower Ashton, at Fine Art studios in Spike Island, or design studios at Bush House. In addition to studio-based courses, all students take part in a programme of Visual Culture which addresses issues of the theories, contexts and histories of your chosen studio subject.

All staff teaching onto your course are engaged in scholarly activity, professional practice or research. Their work can be viewed on the staff web pages and also under our research and knowledge exchange sites.

All students in the department take part in the Graduate Development Programme - The GDP - this includes facilitated-learning seminars which focus on your learning processes and academic achievements, whilst supporting your personal and professional development as you move through your undergraduate degree. The key aims of GDP relate to the student experience; learner development; personal development and employability and 'preferred futures'.
